Healing the Wounded Child Within with Michael Hsu [episode 8]
Meet Our Featured Guest on Express Success Radio
Our featured guest is Michael Hsu.
Michael is a Life Coach and the host of the top-ranked podcast Heal From the Ground Up.
He focuses on helping clients to heal those emotional wounds they suffer during childhood.
He coaches others to achieve true emotional healing by learning to become their own source of love instead of seeking it from others.
While working with his own coach, Michael was able to see that his insomnia was connected to a deeply internalized voice that constantly pushed him to ‘do do do’ and urged him to remain focused on endless achievement; never allowing himself to relax or feel like his accomplishments were ever “enough”. The inner monologue that kept Michel up at night involved a fear that, if he was not engaged in constant action, he would fail to realize his grand vision for his life… an outcome to which he had attached his self worth.
That experience helped him realize that this persistent voice in his head was his mother’s voice but that he had now taken on the role of perpetrator by making her voice his own. He was asked a powerful question “If you fail at everything, who are YOU then?” When each of us answers that question, we can connect with our authentic core self. By living from and leading with our authenticity, we will connect with and understand our inherent value.
The Action Steps
Here are some keys take-aways from Michael’s personal journey to heal himself as he heals others:
- Identify what you deeply need and commit to giving the acceptance, love, approval or nurturing to yourself instead of seeking it from your relationships.
- Embrace what makes you uniquely you, without the burden of judgement. One way to embrace yourself is to journal privately or otherwise express who you are, without veneers and the compulsion to “look good” for others and subject yourself to their criticism.
- Discover the brilliance within you through loss by understanding that life will often strip away what no longer serves you, allowing you to see the magnificent essence of who you are and always will be.
“Create from the brilliance of who you are. Do not attempt to obtain value in your life through your goals and dreams as that implies that you are not valuable just the way you are. That is the key to open up your whole world.” – Michael Hsu
