She found herself noticing other men which scared her then began to re-experience an old pain in her present experience. She knew that a significant change was imminent and took responsibility for healing her past and being accountable for her future.
Once Angie made the decision to get a divorce, she says the Universe put things in her path to allow her to demonstrate her commitment to change. And, although leaving her marriage was the hardest transition she’s ever endured, Angie knows deeply that she creates her own experience. As a result, she lives her life in a significantly different way than she did while married. Once she allowed her heart to break fully, she discovered a level of “strength in weakness” that she’d never known before.
The Action Steps
Angie outlines a few key steps to follow should you find yourself going through a major life transition of any kind:
- Accept where you are. Know that your life cannot and will not look like it did before. Simply acknowledge what’s happening.
- Surround yourself with people who love and accept you AS YOU ARE. Find time each day to nourish your life and the changes taking place in it.
- Make gratitude a daily habit by finishing each day with thinking of three things that happened that day which you’re grateful for.
- Find a way to help others in need to get you out of your own head-space and to know that you make a difference in other’s lives. Contribution provides powerful perspective!
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
